Consequently, there have been invented various applications that can optimize businesses' work. Microsoft Word is one of the most widely deployed document formats. Microsoft Word is a word processing program designed for creation of documents, such as CV, letters, fax cover sheets, official reports, legal documents, brochures, manuals and more. The Word was introduced to the market by Microsoft. Its original name was Multi-Tool Word. The first addition was introduced in the eighties. Since that time, there have appeared several other versions, including of the latest addition introduced in 2008. The next addition of Word is said to be launchedin the coming year. It will include a great many new features common to other programs in the Office 2010. Although Word is a component of the Microsoft Office system, it sells as a standalone software package and included in Microsoft Works Suite. Beginning with the 2003 addition, the brand name was changed to underline Word's identity as a constituent within the Office Suite. Microsoft Ltd. Renamed Microsoft Word into Microsoft Office Word.

 

The Word format allows to type, format and modify text to create documents that can be printed off or viewed electronically. Microsoft Word is a low-cost word processing program. The application offers boundless features and tools, and a great many users are familiar and generally use Microsoft toolbars. The word processing application offers tools to format fonts, add page numbers and clipart, and create tables and headers. There is even an "office assistant" cartoon that can direct a user done the creation of a document or answer any queries that arise. Microsoft Word's document formats are denoted either by a. doc or. docx file extension.

 

The newer ".docx" extension denotes the Office Open XML international standard for Office documents and is deployed by Word 2007 for Windows, Word 2008 for the Macintosh.
